It starts with a healthy you
We genuinely care about what you eat. Health problems related to obesity and climate change are two of the biggest issues facing the world today. It’s a fact that excessive meat consumption and its intensive production are major contributors to the situation. We want to face these issues head on and encourage people to reduce their meat consumption.
Reducing our environmental impact
We’re extra passionate when it comes to protein production. We don’t rear livestock, preferring to grow and harvest Quorn’s mycoprotein in giant fermenters instead. This process is better for the environment as it uses less water, produces fewer greenhouse gases and takes up less land.
Quorn® is the first global meat-alternative brand to achieve third party certification of its carbon footprint figures, with over 60% of our products proudly achieving the Carbon Trust Footprint.
The Carbon Footprint of Quorn Mince is more than 95% lower than that of beef†
In 2018 our sites’ Carbon Emissions from energy‡ showed a reduction of 33% compared to our 2012 baseline
It might surprise you how much of an impact going meat free can have on our planet and your health. It’s not just the amount of calories and saturated fat you’ll save, but your carbon footprint too.†
2 people going meat-free for 1 meal would save
Carbon equivalent of boiling 776 kettles
Same number of calories in 3 chocolate biscuits
Water saving equivalent of 17 days of personal use
Dietary fat reduction equivalent of 4 teaspoons of butter
Sustainable Palm Oil
Palm oil is a versatile ingredient that's good to use because it only needs half the land of other oil producing crops. But in some parts of the world, illegal and irresponsible palm oil practices are a clear driver of deforestation, social conflicts and human rights issues. This cannot be allowed to continue.
We are members and supporters of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO)
We use only certified sustainable palm oil, and have done since 2014
We are 'leading the way' on the use of sustainable Palm Oil as classified by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF)
Protecting Water Resources
In many parts of the world, water is a scarce resource and under increasing pressure as the global population grows.
The water footprint of beef† is 12x higher than that of Quorn Mince†
The water footprint of chicken† is 2.7x more than Quorn Pieces†
In 2018 our site water use‡ showed a reduction of 16% compared to our 2012 baseline
